The Mind Wellness University Team provides a platform for local speakers to offer their expertise to our corporate membership. All speakers with expertise in an area of mental health are encouraged to apply.

How it works

Upon approval by the MWU review board, speakers will be designated into one of three categories: Emerging, Professional, and Premier. Compensation depends on the designated level, with opportunities to move up as new skills or certifications are acquired.

Clarifying the Categories

There’s a place for mental health experts at every stage of their career.

EMERGING

An emerging speaker has limited professional speaking experience, a passion for mental health, and training or life experience to be shared with a corporate audience. This is a great opportunity for a new speaker to hone their message and get in front of a broader audience.

PROFESSIONAL

Professional speakers are those who have some speaking experience, both paid and/or unpaid, are established experts in their field, and are looking to expand their reach as a public speaker. This is a great starting point for experts who are still building their audience.

PREMIER

A premier speaker is one with an established platform, an existing social media presence, and experience as a paid speaker. Premier speakers have established credentials as published authors, podcasters, bloggers, or other forward-facing platform.

Can I move up to the next category?

It is entirely possible to bump up to the next payment level through your own efforts. Get a new degree? Let us know! Earn a new certification? Keep us informed! Publish a book in your area of expertise? Send us a copy! We can’t wait to watch our speakers SHINE!

We have coaching available for a fee, but it’s not hidden, and it’s not required! If you’re interested in paid coaching, let us know. What does it cost the trainer?

The biggest cost for speakers in MWU is your time. We cannot guarantee that once your curriculum is on the MWU platform you will be flooded with speaking requests from the membership.

What we CAN promise is that if you put in the work, you will walk away with a 30, 60, or 90-minute presentation on your topic that is professional and ready to present, and that it will belong to you. This might be the gentle push you need to finally get behind the podium!

How does the MWU Team get paid?

Our compensation comes from the membership fees. Wellness speakers (that’s YOU!) are just a small portion of the larger MWU program. Each membership package will be customized to meet the unique needs of the client, and their membership fee will vary depending on what options they choose. We’ve worked hard to create a win/win/win for all involved - speakers are given a platform to share their valuable knowledge, the MWU Team earns compensation for our efforts, and best of all, our membership receives valuable mental health training and support!

What’s the catch?

No catch. You create your curriculum. You pitch your topic. You own your content. When your topic is chosen by the membership, you show up and do your thing. That’s it!

NO HIDDEN FEES
There is no fee to be listed as a mental health speaker in MWU. It doesn’t cost to move up a level as you gain more experience and credentialing. The only cost is the time it takes to write a thoughtful, creative curriculum that appeals to the the MWU membership.

CREATIVE IDEAS

We try not to duplicate topics by different experts. So, be creative! The more unique your approach to your area of expertise, the more likely you are to attract notice from the MWU membership.

PROFESSIONALISM

As a part of MWU, you will be representing our brand. We provide our membership with reliable, qualified experts that they can trust. Trust building begins on our online platform, from your headshot to your logo, to your messaging. Not only will professionalism play a big part in your payment designation at the application stage, but it will also improve your chances of being chosen as a speaker by the membership.

CURRICULUM

In your application we will ask you to submit and outline, slides, or other learning materials for your chosen topic. This means, you’ll have to create your presentation BEFORE you apply. That’s not to say you won’t change your presentation after you’ve applied. But we do need to see evidence that you are qualified and prepared to speak on your chosen topic(s).

EXPERTISE

Now is not the time to let your imposter syndrome take over! In your application, let your light shine! Go ahead and brag yourself up! Make sure to share all your credentialing, certifications, and degrees. But don’t stop there! We consider life experience a valuable learning tool, so don’t be afraid to share ALL the reasons you are an expert on your topic.

OPEN MIND

Don’t compare yourself to other speakers in your category! There are a lot of diverse workplaces out there, each with their own unique needs and expectations. Some workplaces are going to be drawn towards licensed and degreed professionals, while others will be more interested in hearing from people with lived experience. If you believe you have something to offer the mental health space, we encourage you to apply. Your story might be just what someone needs to begin a healing journey!

HOW TO APPLY

BRAINSTORM YOUR TOPICS

Remember that creativity is key! Sit down and brainstorm a list of possible topics, as well as ways you can teach your topics that is uniquely YOU!

BRAINSTORM YOUR TOPICS

You can submit up to three topics per application. There is no limit to the number of topics you can submit, so start with your favorite top three, and save the rest for later. Or, submit only one topic at a time. If you’re more comfortable getting just one presentation really dialed in, than by all means! One great presentation is better than multiple mediocre presentations.

COLLECT YOUR APPLICATION MATERIALS

Your application will be easier to complete if you have your materials ready to submit for approval. You will be required to provide the following: speaker abstract, handout (if applicable), slide show (if applicable), interactive component for audience engagement, key takeaways and action.
