“Leave your personal life at the door” doesn’t actually work.
The Mind Wellness Champion Program
Mind Wellness Champion program equips employees with the tools and training to support coworkers facing challenges.
Workforce and mental health
Studies indicate that 67% of the American workforce struggles with their mental health, costing the economy $47.6 billion annually.* Yet most employers and employees know very little about how to support colleagues in distress.

Mind Wellness Champion
Over six months, Champions will learn how to recognize mental health concerns, offer guidance, and connect individuals with helpful resources—all while fostering a culture of support and resilience at work.
Session Includes
Mental Health Prevalence & Workplace Impact
Mental health challenges are one of the leading causes of lost productivity, burnout, and workplace disengagement. In this session, participants will explore national and local mental health data, understand the cost of untreated mental health in the workplace, and learn to recognize the early warning signs when a coworker might be struggling. We’ll also introduce CONVERGE (online private network) and practical ways to respond with empathy and confidence—while honoring your role as a peer, not a clinician.
Mental Health First Aid
These two sessions provide evidence-based training to help Champions confidently assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis. Taught by certified instructors, Mental Health First Aid covers topics such as depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, and addiction. Participants will leave with a nationally recognized certification and hands-on tools to support their coworkers with care and without judgment.
Communication and conflict management
Difficult conversations are part of any workplace. This session equips Champions with the tools to communicate clearly, set boundaries, and manage tension constructively. Through role play, scenario-based learning, and tools like Motivational Interviewing, participants will develop the confidence to hold supportive conversations that motivate change and protect relationships.
De-escalation and bystander intervention
What happens when emotions escalate or safety becomes a concern? Champions will learn practical de-escalation strategies, how to assess risk, and when to step in—or step back. This session also introduces bystander intervention techniques to address workplace harassment, crisis situations, and disruptive behaviors with composure and care.
Navigate mental health resources
Being a Champion doesn’t mean having all the answers—it means knowing where to find them. This final session will help participants understand the landscape of mental health resources, from local therapists and crisis lines to Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) and community-based support. We’ll also discuss how to listen for what coworkers need, reduce stigma, and share resources in a way that feels respectful and empowering.
