Tara Sorenson, LCPC, LAC, EMDR Certified Psychotherapist, Trauma and Addiction Specialist Tara Sorenson has over two decades of expertise in trauma, addictions, burnout, vicarious trauma, and moral injury. As the founder of Wise Way Counseling & Consulting, LLC, Tara has dedicated her career to helping individuals and organizations achieve transformational healing and sustained growth through evidence-based therapies and innovative wellness programs.

Tara holds dual licensure as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), with specialized certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. Her extensive training and experience have equipped her to support high-achieving professionals, including first responders, healthcare providers, and educators, in navigating the complex mental health challenges inherent in high-stress environments.

With a particular focus on law enforcement and healthcare professionals, Tara specializes in addressing trauma and moral injury, including the emotional injuries that arise from matters of conscience. She brings over 12 years of experience working within the criminal justice system, specifically in prison and jail settings, where she developed a deep understanding of the unique pressures faced by those in these demanding roles.

Additionally, Tara has collaborated extensively with healthcare teams throughout her career, further informed by her personal connection to the field—having been raised by a mother who served as an ICU nurse for over 30 years.

Tara’s professional background also includes vocational rehabilitation counseling and a broad range of mental health and addiction therapy. She is particularly skilled in providing EMDR individual therapy, EMDR Intensives tailored for individuals with demanding schedules, trauma response interventions following critical incidents, and EMDR retreats.

Her work is centered on addressing the distinct challenges faced by individuals and organizations, particularly within the workplace. Tara is especially passionate about her Workplace Wellness Program, a specialized Group EMDR-based intervention designed to support mental health, reduce PTSD symptoms, prevent suicide, combat burnout, decrease employee turnover, and break the stigma surrounding mental health. This program reflects her commitment to fostering resilience and promoting sustainable well-being within professional environments.
